26 weeks and all is well!

Isn't technology great?

Hey everyone!  Mommy had yet another ultrasound done yesterday.  I know for you American parents and grandparents, this doesn't seem unusual, but when you live in social medicine land, scans are only done on an as-needed basis.  I mentioned a couple of posts ago, that we had to have a scan re-done because the heart detail was inadequate.  So we did that, and then received a call from the doctor that we needed to discuss results and reschedule the ultrsound.  It appeared that baby was not growing as much as should have been between the ultrasound done on the 8th of July and the mulligan done on the 27th.  Chris and I worried a bit for a week or so til we went in to see the doctor, but she went through all of our previous scans and paperwork and we are pretty darn sure that our only problem was a clerical error.  Someone had entered my LMP date as 4 February, when it should have been 14 February; about the same length of time as the apparent lag in fetal growth.  She said to go on and do the scan and we'll see if there is actually anything to be concerned over, but in light of our calculations it doesn't seem there is.

This picture is of the heart, and the blue field below it shows the
Fetal Heart Rate at 154 bpm: normal

Sure enough, after my scan yesterday, the technician had the doctor on premises look at the measurements taken, and not only do we not appear to have a lag, Little Dumer #2 is precisely bang on in growth for her gestational age which is 26 weeks and 1 day yesterday, just where she should be.  Now, I haven't spoken to my own doctor about this yet, but I reckon the fellow at the imaging centre knows what he is talking about.  So I am not even a little bit worried any more.  And I really wanted to get the images uploaded for Daddy to see, as he is in Newfoundland this week to see Mary and Charlie get married.

Mom and Jordy miss Daddy a bunch, but we are hanging in there.  I did go to see our regular family physician, Dr. Davey yesterday though, as I have been having back issues again whenever I am at work.  We have made the decision to do as we did last time and go on to short term disability before my maternity leave.  The spasms have become rather severe and frequent.  It was good to know what I was in for this time, as I had an opportunity to speak with my boss about it and get some closure with my partners and some of my customers.  I feel a bit more uncomfortable, rather than fortunate, to not be at work today, lots of things there are still on my mind, but I am sure I will feel differently in a week or so.

Other than that we are doing great, and looking forward to spending an evening with Tia and Uncle Mark; they're coming to visit and break up the monotony of not having Dad around.  Should be fun!
