Jordan's First Joke

While Jordan is still working on saying new words, his sign language vocabulary has grown a lot. We estimate that he knows over 20 signs! Not all of them are exactly correct, but we know what he means. We are spending more and more time teaching him new signs and new words.

Anyways, a few days ago Daddy was playing some word games with Jordan, hoping to get him to say a new word. Daddy would point at his own chest and say, "I'm Daddy!" He would then point at Jordan's chest and say, "You are Jordan," each time making the sign for Daddy or Jordan.

Eventually Daddy changed it up. He pointed at Jordan's chest and said, "Who is this? It's Jordan!" Then he'd point to his own chest and say, "Who is this?" and usually Jordan would say "Da-Da!" Awwww, I know.

However, on the 3rd or 4th try Daddy again pointed at his own chest and said, "Who is this?" But this time Jordan said, "Ma-ma!" which prompted Daddy to say "Noooo! I'm Daddy!" This sent Jordan into fits of hysterical laughter.

So Daddy tried again and pointed at his own chest. "Jordan, who is this?" This time Jordan responded with "Ma...." and he only got that far before again falling apart laughing. Soon both Jordan and Daddy were laughing so hard they had tears streaming down their cheeks.

So, while we've had many play sessions where Jordan ended up laughing really hard, this is the first time that he initiated a joke!
