Getting Close to Christmas

Wow! Long time, no blog. I know. My apologies, everyone. But it has been hectic around here. I am sure you all know how crazy the Holidays can get. In all honesty, when we have finally gotten a moment around here, a very rare occurrence, I just enjoy sitting and savouring the quiet. We've been hopping with work, but we anticipate that starting to wind down this week, the shopping is all done, the mailing is all done, and we are hoping to have a most merry Christmas.

In late November, Nanny, Mommy and Jordy all went to see Disney On Ice the Celebrations show. It was probably a bit early in his life for this kind of entertainment, but he was still able to remain fairly still for a majority of the show. He really enjoyed the opening when all the characters came out. Chris was pretty happy to not be forced to go and stayed on drop-off and pick-up detail. But Mommy and Nanny are looking forward to many more such activities! We had a grand time.

Also, he is looking like a big boy these days with his new haircut!

Before....

... After

And, foolishly, the same day we got the haircut, we took him to see Santa. He wasn't such a big fan this year, and refused to be left on the Big Guy's lap alone. So we had to go with the family shot. I am sure in a year he will be unstoppable, but right now we are working on really selling the fat-man every time we see a depiction of him. Now he looks at our picture with Santa and points at him then looks to me askance, and my response is, "Who's that, Jordan? It's Santa! Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa loves us!" I am sure I sound like a crazy person, but really, when don't I these days?

Wah! Wah! Wah!

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Speaking of pointing to pictures and looking askance, he has taken to asking to see a special portrait Chris has on his dresser every time he is in our bedroom. It's one of Me, Chris, Nanny Mary and Grandpa Cam taken a year or so before he passed away. He always points to Cam and looks to his Daddy, who explains, "That's Grandpa!" Yesterday every time we would do this he would lean in and give Cam's picture a kiss. It is very sweet. We really don't know what his understanding is but he seems to have taken a shine to Cam! It's times like that when I really miss him, and wish he had been around to see Jordy, I know he would have loved him to bits.

We promise to get back to blogging again soon, probably with some fun Christmas photos, and definitely with our Holiday letter, which didn't make it into the cards I sent out this year, check in with us again soon. And have a Happy Holiday, everyone!
