Mommy (Punk Rocker) and Jordan (cutest beagle pup, ever!) getting ready to rock the mall -- make that get rocked by the crowds at the mall!
Today was pretty exciting, it was Jordy's training for Halloween 2011. He doesn't understand what is going on at all, but we got him all dressed up and took a crack at it anyhow. I don't know how many of you out there are aware of this, but these days the door-to-door trick or treating is becoming less and less common. We aren't sure if this is because of media fearmongering that children will be getting poison or razor blades instead of treats, or if panty-waist parents are trying to protect their delicate little snowflakes from the elements; perhaps it is a combination of both. At any rate, many folks now take their kids to the local mall for trick or treating. This is a practice which Chris and I usually scorn. But I noticed last week when I was in the mall that their trick or treat hours would be Halloween Sunday between 3 and 5 PM. I thought this would be perfect to allow me to take Jordy for some treats but still get home before it got dark and thus I wouldn't miss giving out treats to those brave children who came to to our door! So around 4 Pm I packed Jordan up in his little puppy dog costume and we headed for Coquitlam Centre, also known as the 7th circle of hell. This place was packed! And I made the right call bringing the stroller for Jordy to sit in because there is no way he could have walked without getting trampled. Not to mention I felt pretty silly before too long because not only could he not say, " Trick or treat!" he can't really eat the treats! Costumed kiddies beleaguered vendors in droves so it was rare that anyone had a moment to remark on the cute outfit I crammed the kiddo into, and when they did, I could hardly hear it over the din. What a mess. After half an hour I shut it down and headed home. We got some food in the boy and then decided to hit up just a few of our friendliest neighbours for treats. That was much more fun! He doesn't get it yet, but by this time next year, I reckon we'll be fighting with him to let go of his treat bucket so he can go to bed!
