Just before the drop-off!
Chris dropped me off at home and I went directly upstairs to log on to the computer and check out the webcam to see if he was still crying. As fate would have it, I wasn't able to view his room at that time, probably a good thing, really. So I puttered on the computer for a while, it was nice to take my time and not have a little dude rushing me off. Then I settled down for a nap. For a while I wasn't sure I'd be able to sleep with all the morning's excitement, but I needn't have worried, I conked out for 2 hours -- bliss! Then I woke up, had a leisurely lunch and actually got some chores done. Normally this is something which is so hard to do with Jordan around; I usually have to do my housework in 15 minute snatches. But this time I took my time, turned up the iPod and cruised through my cleaning! Before I knew it the clock said it was nearly four so I got ready to pick him up.
I got to the centre at about 4:30 and was prepared for the worst case scenario: that he was still crying and hadn't stopped all day! Fortunately, he was sitting on Miss Tracy's lap having a snack and looking dry eyed and none the worse for wear. When I said hi his head whipped around and a big smile broke across his face; oh relief -- he still loved me! Turns out he refused to be put in the chair to eat (I am sure all you parents out there are familiar with "the Plank,") and so Miss Tracy, in light of it being his first day and not his happiesst, indulged him by letting him have his snack on her lap at the table. I asked how his day went and she said he was pretty sad that Mommy and Daddy left, so he got lots of cuddles and hugs and kisses from everyone. Apparently he was pretty glommy, and didn't want to be too far from an adult. I was happy to hear that he was at least able to take comfort in them, rather than unable to be happy with anyone. He didn't eat much of his lunch, a true measure of his uneasy feeling as he is such a good eater most of the time, but when the afternoon snack time rolled around he was pretty hungry. I was surprised to hear that they were able to get him down for two 45 minute naps -- not as much as he normally naps, but pretty good for the circumstances! I let him finish his snack (I got him to sit in the chair and give poor Tracy a break!) and then we headed out, both of us very happy to be reunited. Before I left though, one of the adminstrators, Miss Carol, let me know that she has more days available starting in May! So we are fast on our way to having all the days we need.
I forgot to leave you some Easter photos last night, so here ya go:
