Jordan has accomplished a lot since our last blog update: he's met Chris' Aunt Isabel, who came all the way from Newfoundland, as well as meeting several other family members and friends at our Meet & Greet BBQs, he got his very first studio portraits snapped by Kelli Etheridge in Lantzville which is just outside of Nanaimo (we won a free portrait sitting with her at the Vancouver Island Baby Fair last March,) and to get there he had to take his first ever ferry ride, thus testing his parents' day-trip capabilities (if we do say so ourselves, we not only survived, but we pretty much rocked it,) and finally, Jordan has nailed down this breast-feeding thing much to the relief of his Mother. Well, he's about 99% there any how; sometimes he gets rushed or frustrated and can't hang onto his latch and that leads Mama-Bear to get frustrated sometimes, but there are no longer concerns about the amount he is eating. In fact, he's eating plenty--sometimes feeding as frequently as every 45 minutes during the day time.
One of the things people always ask when they come for a visit is how Mommy's doing, and I have to say I feel great and have for some time now! My feet finally decided to stop swelling about two weeks ago, so I can once again wear normal shoes. I am up and at 'em and have been ever since the day after the C-section, and I haven't had even a twinge of discomfort sitting up since a couple of days after we got home. I am also happy to report that I can walk at pretty much my normal pace too! We went for our first walk up the street to the grocery store tonight and I felt fine. From the way people respond when I tell them this, it sounds like I am going for some kind of record for recovery time! It's true, I really can't complain at all about the way I feel except I am TIRED! I feel like I could sleep for a couple of days, easily, but what new parent doesn't feel that way?
Tomorrow begins a new chapter in our lives, as Daddy goes back to work. Oh my stars -- what ever will we do without Daddy?! I admit, I am slightly trepidatious. Chris has been an excellent wing-man; soothing Jordy when I need a nap, shower or break, and fetching and carrying when I need what seems like ten sets of hands which is all the time. And Mondays will be the worst, as he teaches at VFS right after working at EA all day. Visitors will be especially welcome on Mondays, so please feel free to call me! This is hard for Chris too, as he would far prefer to stay home with us, and is afraid of missing Jordan's big milestones. However, this day had to come eventually, and although we are all a tiny bit scared, I know Jordy and I will muddle our way through the week days and treasure, even more, the time we get to spend with Papa-Bear when he is home. Somehow we'll both find time for our own adventures with the Little Dumer.
