New Year

Happy New Year, Everyone!  When last we posted, we filled you in on all our December activities and were preparing to ring in 2014.  What we didn't know was in a few hours we would be terribly sick!  After updating the blog, we all piled into the car and went out to Burnaby Village Museum, where they put on a free holiday light display, have crafts for kids, as well as a variety of performances for families to enjoy.  We had a lovely time, gazing at the colourful lights, watching a marionette show, and riding a few times on the antique carousel.

Carousel ride with Daddy!

Mommy spoke with one of the men who operates the carousel while these guys rode,
he informed her that speed of the horses on the outside edge is about 7.5 km per hour
(a little over 4.5 mph) which is a pretty good clip for a ride!

heading home

We all enjoyed the visit and once we got home, Mommy started to prepare our yummy New Year's Eve Steak and Lobster feast.  Just after dinner, Jordan started to act sad, he would lie down on the couch and bury his face in the corner.  Mommy went over and gave him a cuddle, but it didn't really cheer him, and a few minutes after, he climbed up on Daddy's lap and he wasn't there too long before up came all of his dinner all over Dad, and it was a vast quantity!  Chris says, though he's been puked on many times, he doesn't think he has ever been so thoroughly covered in the stuff.  He later said that he nearly asked me to take a picture, luckily for you, he decided against it!  Well, we got the kids into the bath and when they were done it was Daddy's turn.

Well, without going into all the gory details a few hours later Mommy wasn't feeling so hot, and though at first she thought perhaps she was just feeling queasy because of all the gross goings-on it turned out to be the real deal!  A few hours after that Dad had a go and it was complete and utter gastro-intestinal devastation in the Dumaresq household!  We blame Cygni as the original vector, as she had been sick a couple of days before, though it didn't hit her as hard as the rest of us.  We strongly suspect it was Norwalk, as it was only a half day of the worst symptoms, and then another day or two until we were all pretty much back to normal. It didn't seem to affect the children as badly as it did Mom and Dad. Reading up on it, once infected, you are actually contagious for a day or two before you get any symptoms, so we feel pretty bad now, having gone to Burnaby Village unwittingly sharing the virus!  We are all better now, but needless to say, it was not a happy start to 2014!  It can only get better from there, right...?
