A couple of days after we returned from our trip to Osoyoos, we took the whole family plus our good friends Cindi, Jason and Nolan camping for two nights at Rolley Lake, just a half hour drive east, near Mission. We chose this location specifically because it was close enough that if things went sideways we could just pack up and go back home. Fortunately we did not have to do that! It was a mild couple of days, not too hot. And we got a site close to the washrooms for Jordy's potty emergencies and near the playground, for obvious reasons. There were a few moments each night when Cygni woke up crying, probably distressed over not remembering where the heck she was, and she had to be cuddled and consoled. And Jordy had one melt down when we decided to go on a little nature walk to the lake. We found out later he needed to go poop but didn't like the prospect of using non-home facilities, this was pretty annoying, as we all had to endure his whining for a good hour to ninety minutes, but he eventually let go and was a happy kid again afterwards. Other than those incidents we enjoyed our camp out and would do it again. When it was all done and we were on our way home, I asked everyone what their favourite part of camping was: Mommy said, "camping food!" Jordan said, "sleeping in a tent!" Daddy said, "fire!" and Cygni said, "Camping!"
As Daddy calls it, "The Rolley Lake Hilton"
The gang, getting ready for s'mores!
Cribbage by lantern-light
A little squirrel friend who found some old french fries that had serendipitously fallen
Baby girl, chillaxin'
snacking with Jordy
A Daddy-Daughter moment
here she is, stirring the pot again!
Sunlight through the leaves
The fire is hot, Jordy!
Dad shows Jordan his marshmallow roasting technique
Nolan partakes of the snacks too!
Mmmm - that first bite!
Cyg just goes for the marshmallow
Cindi was the self-appointed fire stoker
I think Mommy wins this one: Camping food is the best!
