Saying Good-bye to Nanny

Cygni climbed up on Nanny's lap one morning to share her book

Well, she's gone.  She swooped in and, fresh for the fight, she tirelessly picked up toys, sopped up spills, snuggled the tots and gave Mommy and Daddy a few nights out without the babysitter surcharge.  But alas, Nanny couldn't stay forever and she returned to Newfoundland last weekend.  We all miss her, but particularly Jordy who insists, "Nanny visiting her friend, be back soon!"  Awwww!  I keep telling him that no, she went on an airplane and went home to be with Pappa Charlie, faaaar away.  To which he often replies, "Cygni and Jordan go on airplane - see Nanny!"  If that doesn't just warm the cockles of your heart....  Thank you for everything you do for us, Nan, we love you and miss you!

Cygni, stuffing her face as usual!  This always made Nanny laugh!

 such love!

Nanny put on just before leaving on Saturday.
I think she is redefining demure with that cupcake-hoarding scowl and the lone boot...

The Sunday after she left was of course, Father's Day.  Dad got a super surprise treat of a brand new 40" LED TV to replace the one the boy broke and he is enjoying it immensely.  It was all Jordan's idea!  I'm not even kidding.  When we went to the tv store together I made Jordan promise he was going to be nice to the " New big TV" if we got one, and he agreed.  So I sprung for it.  I arranged to have it installed (along with a new receiver on the Friday before Dad's Day while Daddy was at work.) But the Thursday before was when we bought it, Jordan was pretty excited, and when Daddy came home that night the kiddos were in the bath.  Dad shouted a hello up the stairwell, and I directed him to the oven where his dinner was keeping warm, and Jordan happily sing-song-ed in the tub, "Surprise!  New big TV!"  Uh-oh.  I frantically whispered, "Shhhhh, no, Jordan!  Not yet, the new big tv isn't coming until tomorrow. Don't tell Daddy!"  To which he responded, in a stage whisper, "Shhh don't tell Daddy surprise new big tv!"  Oh man!  I thought I was in deep doo-doo trying to keep this secret.  Kinda cute though.  I kept my fingers crossed, and luckily for me, Jordo didn't give it away and Dad was splendidly clueless when he walked in the door on Friday.

We took Daddy for a Sunday picnic in the park before taking him to dinner at The Loft to celebrate his Dadness!

It's a trifle late, but Happy Fathers Day to the Dads out there, especially our close, personal favourites:  Grandpa Tom, G-pa D, Pappa Charlie and Uncle Stu and Papa Larry!
