As you all know, yesterday was Father's Day and we hope all of our readers who are Daddies had a great day yesterday.
Daddy & Jordan playing around at brunch
Nice glob of whipped cream you got on your chin, kid!
As a Father's Day treat, Mommy and the Little Dumer decided to let the big guy sleep in yesterday, for as long as he wanted. Well, almost. I did warn Daddy-o that he needed to be up in time to make it to a brunch we had reservations for. Still, he slept in til 9:30 or 10-ish, which is pretty good in this house these days! When Daddy woke up we gave him his card with a subscription to EGM inside and Mommy made him a coffee and scone to hold him over til brunch at one. We drove out to Delta to the River House Pub & Restaurant where they were serving up an all-you-can eat buffet. Jordan was a very good little boy and ate everything Mommy shared with him, smiling and laughing the whole time; it was a nice meal out! Daddy was happy with the buffet selection and ate heartily, but not so much that he felt ill afterwards. At the end of it all, he declared himself to be satisfied and,"there is nothing else I could possibly want!" We drove back home and let him play some Super Mario Galaxy 2 as he is on a crazy Green Star mission at the moment, and then we ordered in pizza for dinner. Daddy had a pretty good day. He is very easy to please!

Not the best quality photos as they were taken with the video camera, but I really wanted to put up some shots of Jordan sporting his cute little robe! Here he is watching some of his favourite tv program, "Toopy & Binoo."
You may recall that Jordy was starting to sign "dog" with a little help, and we are happy to report that he is now signing it fairly proficiently on his own. We were playing with his See'n'Say and played the song, "Old MacDonald" and this time it played "had a dog" and right away he started patting his leg! Well done, Jordan! In addition, he is now signing "bubbles" too! We learned a bubble song from Ingrid, our S-LP and blew bubbles with Pawzee (the bubble blowing tiger, one of Jordy's birthday gifts from the Drivers) and he happily signed "bubbles" for Ingrid at our last therapy session. I am very pleased with his ever increasing vocabulary! I will try to get some video of the signing, but it's pretty hard to blow bubbles, sign with Jordan AND operate a video camera at the same time! We'll see what I can manage.
Some may be curious as to his speech development, and he definitely babbles a lot. He has his times when he can go on and on as if he is carrying on a conversation or lecturing us, but he also has his quiet moments. Ingrid seems to think he is an observer, and likes to take in information rather than gabbing on. I told her he is probably much more like his Dad, in that case, and it would be okay with me if Jordan turned out to be one who thinks before he speaks, unlike Mommy! He has many vocalisations and says mamamama and dadadada a lot, but we do not believe he is actually meaning to say "mama," or "dada," yet. There are a lot of mothers out there who would call it his first words, but one becomes more realistic about these things when one's kid is seeing a speech therapist on a regular basis. Funny story: Chris told me the other day that as they were leaving the house for Daycare, Jordan started to get pretty excited, as he usually does (he loves Daycare,) and he said to Jordy, "Yes, we are going to day care!" And Daddy said, he could have sworn Jordy tried to say "Day care." To which I rejoined, "If his first word is 'daycare' instead of 'mommy' or 'daddy' I am going to quit my f***ing job!"
