Up In The Morning and Out to School!

Jordan on Day 1 of Grade 1

Well, it's that time of year: back to School we went and Jordan had a great first week!  Stacey tells us he is chatting a lot and contributing regularly and relevantly to circle discussions.  Not only that, he has been pretty good for me in the morning, and other than one or two little moments of frustration, he does what I ask him to do, when I ask him to do it so that everyone can get out the door in a timely fashion.  That is a big deal for the two of us!

Thumbs up for pre-school, Mommy!

Cygni's first day of preschool was yesterday.  She is attending the pre-school program at Brightstart Children's Academy which is the same place Jordan went to daycare before we placed him in the DCS pre-school program three years ago.  It was a short day, just one hour long to get the kids in and see the classroom and meet the teachers while parents got a brief orientation.  On Monday there will be a practice on parents leaving for a half hour or so during the hour-long session, and then the program goes live for little C on Friday.  She will be attending two days a week for 4 hours each day.

The charm necklace we got for our new pre-schooler!
A "C" for Cygni, a locket to remind her of mom and dad (?) and Hello Kitty, because she loves Hello Kitty

I know it's going to be difficult for Cygni when I really leave her next Friday, as she hasn't had the separation for me that Jordan grew accustomed to going to daycare from the age of 10 months.  And she's always been glommy too.  Tears are highly likely.  I gave her a special pre-school, big-girl celebration charm necklace, and told her that if she ever feels lonely or sad at school she can hold her locket and think of Mom and Dad.  She loves it and wore it yesterday.  I told her we could put some pictures in it this weekend.  She says she wants pictures of Rubble and Elmo inside. Haha.  So much for my expectations.

Yesterday was also the Welcome Back Picnic at CHSC

It was good to see friends we missed over the summer

The kiddos had fun playing and hanging out

So far the year is off to a great start!
