This weekend we had a last grab at some fun before Daddy has to go back to work tomorrow, and took Jordan swimming. He hasn't been to the pool in quite some time; it's been over 6 months since his last visit and it didn't start out very auspiciously this time. Once we got him into his swim diaper and got under the shower spray to prepare for our immersion in the pool he started wailing and getting into the kiddie pool brought about crying and full-on screams. I berated myself for not getting him to the pool at all in the last six months but then Daddy got the brilliant notion to grab some pool toys from the communal box. He brought over a ball and a boat and suddenly Jordan was happy again. We spent the next hour frolicking, splashing, floating down the "river" and even got a few torpedoes in! We're teaching Jordan to jump into the water to Mommy and Daddy and he is REALLY close to doing it. He squats down on the count of three and puts his arms out for us, he just hasn't actually leaped yet. And he did his first "motor-boat" for us! He even put his mouth in the water. Gah, when I think of how many times the Water Babies instructor tried to get us to do that...!? By the time we decided to head out he was disappointed to be leaving! We all just had so much fun! He was so cute and hilarious to watch and there were so many moments of pure joy to witness on our little boy's face that we knew we had to make sure we do this more regularly. We've resolved to have a pool outting at least every two weeks and to get him signed up in the toddler swim program once we feel he is back to his old comfort level.
Also wanted to make a little post to let you know that Daddy has completed a DVD collection of Jordy's video clips since Day One. This is different from the DVD photo slideshow of the family from this year, and is exclusively video.
