It's 2am, my first night home, and Jordan is sleeping off a breastmilk hangover on my shoulder. Thank heavens! (We have been having the occasional struggle getting latched.) I was able to check my e-mail for the first time and found so many kind thoughts, funny anecdotes and comments and some really sweet personal notes from so many family and friends, I just had to say thank you! I am overcome. As I have mentioned the comments, I should also say that now that I am finally home I am able to moderate the comments left on our blogpage, and there are some cute ones from some of our readers, that are now visible, so you are able to go through the old posts and see what others had to say. We LOVE comments, so please continue to leave them!
In addition, I wanted to share a couple of talented bits of creative writing that were dedicated to us by friends too. The first is a funny poem written by Jacquelyn Sedberry, the best friend of my childhood. She wrote it for my birthday, but before she knew that Jordan had made an early appearance, it is hilarious, I loved it and had to share, hope you don't mind Jackie:
Happy Birthday to Debbie
Soon to be mom
To a squalling and bawling 20 lb son.
Eat all the cake you want
Cause nobody will know
Pop out a boob later to see all the pounds go.
32 years of age and glowing with pride
for the life of her alien spawn growing inside.
This will be your year so hold your head high
You'll be the best mom ever on the Canadian side.
And this next one was written by a very dear friend, Aida Driver, and given to me at my baby shower in April, I think she should try to have it published. I try not to read it "too often" because it makes my eyes all misty, but decided I had to share it too. A special note on this one, I have to add an apology because she and her husband Mark came by on Tuesday to visit us in hospital and I couldn't visit with them or any of our other visitors because I was running on almost no sleep that day, I feel awful having turned everyone away, I hope no feelings were hurt:
In Heaven, A baby talked to God...
I've been told that you are sending me to Earth tomorrow, but How am I going to survive as little and defenseless as I am?
Among all my angels, I have chosen one that is waiting and will take care of you.
But please tell me. How am I going to understand people talking to me?
I don't know the strange language of men.
Your angel will tell you the sweetest and most tender words you can hear and will patiently teach you how to talk.
And, What will I do when I want to talk to you?
Your angel will teach you how to pray so you can talk to me
I have heard that on Earth there are bad men. Who will defend me?
Your angel will defend you even at the cost of her own life.
But I will always be sad because I won't see you any more, Lord.
Your angel will talk to you about me and will teach you the right path so you can come back to me one day, but remember that I will always be with you.
At that moment voices sounded from Earth and the little boy quickly said:
Please, oh Lord, if I am leaving now, at least tell me the name of my angel
The name is not important, you will call her MOM.
Both of these are going into the scrapbook for sure! Thanks everyone!
