Cheering on the Canucks this June - sad to say, our boys disappointed us in that last series against the Bruins and didn't get to hoist the Cup. But it was an exciting season, the likes of which we'd never seen before!

Ah, so I have stolen a meager hour or two to update everyone, at last! As I said, we have been busy since the end of May. Between work (including the start of another term teaching at VFS and a second business trip out to California for Daddy plus a store renovation for Mommy,) a big run at the Stanley Cup for our beloved Canucks, getting ready for Mary's departure which happened at the beginning of July, prenatal appointments, a vacation (which, though relaxing, means a lot of preparation followed by clean-up and re-settling,) and all the day to day stuff involved with caring for The Little Dumer, we have been without much more than a minute to spare. And to be honest, on the rare occasion there is a moment of down-time, Mommy and Daddy sometimes like to just sit and relish the quiet.

June was pretty crazy overall. We knew we would be having to say good-bye to Nanny Mary as she prepared to move back to Newfoundland to marry Charlie. Chris will be going out to support her for the wedding at the end of August, but I plan on staying home with Jordy. We decided that as not all of us would be able to be there in person to celebrate the nuptials, we definitely needed to have some kind of big send-off for the happy couple. So on the 18th of June we had a great big party!

*Charlie and Mary...

...looks like he knows what he's getting into!

The Cake, don't you love all the little puffins sporting sou'westers posted around the base?

*Looking down on the BC Roll-Out

Newfies have a tradition called a Screech-In, a ceremony in which someone may become an honourary Newfoundlander by standing in the Atlantic Ocean, drinking a shot of Screech (Newfie rum,) kissing a codfish, and answering the question, "Is ye an honourary Newfoundlander?" with the reply, "Indeed, I is me ol'cock and long may your big jib draw." Well, we couldn't allow Mary to leave BC after nearly 40 years living here without making her an honourary BCer, and of course, there was a price Charlie had to pay for stealing her away from us! So we dreamed up the BC Roll-Out. It was a real crowd-pleaser.

Kissing a codfish? Heck no! Out west you kiss a salmon! And our water comes mostly from the sky so you'd better open up your umbrella...

No, we don't make you shoot any spirits, instead you've got to stuff your cheeks with a BC roll (a popular type of maki sushi made with salmon skin) and with your mouth full, you have to repeat after a natural born BCer (Chris in this case,) that you swear on Nanaimo, Squamish, Ucluelet, and Osooyoos to always be a BCer.

Note The Little Dumer in the bottom right corner; he's pretty excited to taste that cake!

*No, he hasn't gone goth with black lipstick, he got a hold of one of the fondant puffins!

*And then the little thief went back for more!

It was a great party, nice to let all Mary's old friends come out to wish her well. And all of us, including the Little Dumer had a fun time of it. Charlie and Mary left us the first week in July and are settling in very nicely in Newfoundland, though it sounds like Mary brought so much stuff with her that they are going to have to have a yard sale to move the duplicates!

We are trying to find time on the few sunny days we have gotten, to get our little dude outside and playing. It's been a difficult summer for that though, with only a handful of really nice warm days. We're trying to see the positive, as we know many of our friends and family back east have been having a truly tough time of things with some crazy weather. We would rather be cold than sweltering hot, or worse, dealing with bizarre flooding or tornadoes! Lots of people have been asking how I am doing with the pregnancy and I am holding up well. Mostly I am tired a lot and Chris has been really good and finding me opportunities to nap, even if it means he is stuck babysitting for a couple of hours. We have hardly had time to think about how things are going to be different around here with another Little Dumer to run around after, but it's scary to think we've got just a few more months to go before Jordy's little sister arrives! We have been trying to get Jordan ready for this big event, talking to him whenever we can about the baby girl in Mommy's tummy and mostly he just looks at us like we've lost our minds. But the other day while he was sitting next to me on the couch when I said, "Jordan, Mommy has a baby girl in her tummy!" He smiled at me, and started patting my belly, he was a little rough so I said, "be gentle, the baby is inside!" His response was to bend down and kiss me on the bump. Wow. Sometimes that kid just rocks my world, you know?!

*Good night everyone!
