Christmas 2010

Well, the Dumaresq Family made a joyous time of Christmas this year! On Christmas Eve we headed downtown with Nanny Mary and the Drivers and visited the German Market set up outside of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. There was delicious food to eat and beautiful crafts that made Mommy nostalgic for the European Christmases of her childhood in Germany. As a souvenir she brought home a Käthe Wohlfahrt ornament featuring Kris Kringle delivering gifts in an old-school prop plane. Afterwards we headed down to Robson Square and went round the rink on ice skates. Well, most of us did. Jordy got to take a few spins on the ice in his stroller, with Dad at the helm. Mommy only got to go round twice before the Little Dumer decided that he'd had enough of being cooped up in his stroller and insisted on being set free. At this point in his development, when he is on his feet you'd be better not be encumbered by skates, so Mommy went on Jordy patrol while everyone else enjoyed the skate. We're calling this a Christmas Eve tradition now, as this is our second year doing it. How many more Christmases before Jordy can strap on his own skates, we wonder?

Check out his freezing little hands! He refused to give up the food in order for me to put his mittens on!

Ooh, Santa's come by!

The next day of course, was Christmas morning! Jordan really doesn't quite get all the fuss yet. He helped tear open a lot of his gifts but he needed a lot of extra help and sometimes even lost interest until a new toy was fully unveiled. We're sure next year he will need to be restrained, but this year took a VERY long time to get all his gifts opened! At the end of the day though, he is enjoying playing with each and every one of them. We went to Mark and Aida's for a delicious turkey dinner, and Jordan was able to partake!

Hooray for Christmas morning!

Merry Christmas everyone!

And then on Boxing Day we held our annual Holiday Open House, which was a huge success this year. We got to see lots of beloved family and friends and Jordan helped to keep our guests entertained. He held up pretty well under all the stimuli. There have been a couple of extra naps over the last few days, as his body catches up. From Mommy and Daddy's perspective it was a wonderful Christmas. We hope that we can continue to make happy Christmas memories for our little fellow to cherish his whole life long.
